Job Description:
Conduct in vitro studies of pre-clinical antibacterial compounds in the Novartis research portfolio, provide product support for approved antibacterials and evaluate in-licensing candidates. Studies will include antimicrobial susceptibility testing of lead compounds and comparator agents against clinical and characterized bacterial isolates, determination of the spectrum of activity of lead compounds, assessment of bactericidal activity by time-kill, antibiotic synergy analyses, assessment of postantibiotic and sub-MIC effects, and resistance selection studies including molecular characterization of mechanisms of resistance.
Maintain electronic records and carefully document laboratory studies.
Work closely with the Laboratory Manager and the team at Novartis, Inc. in designing studies to support the R&D testing activities.
Work closely with the Laboratory Manager to ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory, including monitoring and ordering of supplies.
Compile Standard Operating Procedures for R&D testing functions.
Comply with all applicable Novartis safety and regulatory policies.
